Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 2 Mar 1942

Funeral services will be held at the home in Lake Odessa Tuesday afternoon at 2
o’clock for Mrs. Ida M. Gilson, the mother of Postmaster Leon Gilson, who died
Sunday at her home in that village.  Mrs. Gilson was 79 years of age and had
been a long time ill.

She was born in Ohio and in 1881 was married to William Gilson at Sunfield. 
Besides her son, Leon, she is survived by a son Chalmer of Jackson; three
sisters, Mrs. P. J. Welch and Mrs. Fred Wilcox of Sunfield, and Mrs. Carson
Beyer of Charlotte, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

[Transcriber’s note:  There are notations on the obituary card that she was the
daughter of William and Eliza (Mann) Bishop, and was buried in Lakeside Cemetery.]
