For sometime past Mrs.Pearl Deemer Gilson had not been very well and about August 12 she suffered a collapse which effected her both physically and mentally. This by both mental and physical strain. As a woman of exceedingly bright capabilities and attainment she was called upon for many church and social activities besides the care of the home. Having a frail body and an ambitious spirit she lived an intense life up to the time of the break which came as above mentioned. Everything was done for Mrs.Gilson that could be done but the physical could not hold out to restore the mental, and on Thursday night she passed away at the hospital near Grand Rapids. Mrs. Gilson came to Lake Odessa in 1906 with her mother from Indiana at the age of 22. She was converted under the preaching of Rev. Thomas Laity but transferred her membership to the Congregational church at the time of her marriage to Mr.Gilson in 1912. She was most conscientious in everything she undertook. She was a faithful wife and a most excellent, devoted mother, loving her home and dear ones. She cared for her mother in her declining years until her death about ten years ago. She was musical, being called upon for her services for church choir, Eastern Star and Woman's club all of which she was a member. She with her husband and two sons had an orchestra of their own in their home. She leaves besides her husband, her two sons, Thomas Deemer Gilson of Ann Arbor and Charles Mark at home; a brother Charles Deemer lives in Washington. The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. George I Start conducting the services. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery. The flora remembrances were very great-the room of the deceased being filled with beautiful flowers. Aside from the family mentioned above Mrs Gilson leaves her mother-in-law Mrs.Ida Gilson who is caring for the family, and many more relatives and friends as well as her neighbors who will greatly miss her companionship and usefulness.
