Gilson, 78, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her son Leon T. Gilson with whom she had made her home for several years. She had been in failing health since suffering a stroke of paralysis about a year ago. She was the last surviving charter member of the Congregational church here and had been prominently identified with it s various activities for nearly fifty years. For many years after coming to Lake Odessa she had been a dry goods sales lady in different stores in the village. Born in Ohio in 1863, she came with her parents to Sunfield township and in 1881 was married to William Gilson of that community. They moved to Lake Odessa in 1888. Mr. Gilson died in 1932. She is survived by another son Chalmer at Jackson, three sisters, Mrs. P. J. Welch and Mrs. Fred Wilcox at Sunfield, and Mrs. Carson Myer at Charlotte, a brother, William Bishop at Sunfield, three grandsons Roof at Jackson, Dr. Thomas D. at St. Louis, Mich., and Mark who is attending the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the late home Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Charles E. Thies officiating in place of the Rev. Stephen J. Paull, pastor the deceased’s church home, who was ill. Interment was made in Lakeside cemetery. Pall bearers were R. S. Braden, F. E. Branch, C. E. Huntzinger, W. C. McCartney, Dr. G. L. Morse and C. J. Yager.
