Leonard Ginnebaugh, aged 58 years was found dead in bed by his wife Friday morning, his death coming as a distinct shock to the entire community. Mr. Ginnebaugh retired the night before apparently in the best of health. During the night he complained to his wife of a pain in his stomach but insisted that she not get up as it was of minor importance and would soon pass away. He got up to relieve the pain and told her he would finish the night on a cot. When Mrs. Ginnebaugh arose in the morning she discovered the dead body of her husband. Funeral services were held at the Collins church Sunday afternoon and burial was made in the Portland cemetery. Mr. Ginnebaugh had been a lifelong resident of Portland township. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ginnebaugh were pioneer settlers of Collins where he had spent the greater portion of his life. For many years he had operated a threshing outfit and had become well known throughout this district. Some time ago he accepted a position at the Collins elevator which he filled up to the time of his death. He had been married two times. His first wife’s maiden name was Flora Chipman. Four children were born to this union: Fred and Margaret, of Battle Creek; Esther, of Lansing, and John, of California. After the death of his first wife he was married to Mabel Gates, who with five children from that union survives. He is also survived by one brother, Charles Ginnebaugh.
