Girard post, American Legion, and from the legion auxiliary, was present for the funeral services Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Catherine G. Girard, the auxiliary’s only gold star mother, who died at her home, 211 Dye street, Tuesday morning. The services were conducted at the Bradley funeral home, which was formerly the Girard home, where she had lived for 25 years, by Dr. Paul L. Stewart, with the officers of the auxiliary giving the funeral ritualistic service. She held membership in the woman’s relief corps and the Royal Neighbors and both organizations were well represented. The bearers were E. W. More, William Marquette, George Dye, Herbert Hall, Donald M. Steele, and Frank Elwess. Burial was in the Oak Hill cemetery. The only surviving child, Thomas Girard, of Detroit, was here to attend the rites.
