Virgil, “Pete” LeRoy Girvin, 78, of Carson City, formerly of Hubbardston, died
Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Carson City Hospital.  He was born Jan. 16, 1924, in
Crystal, the son of Harold and Katie Wager Girvin.

He married Mazie Martin on Aug. 8, 1942.  He served in the U.S. Navy during
World War II.  He retired from Motorwheel in Lansing in 1979.  He was a member
of the Walter T. Roach American Legion Post 182 in Hubbardston.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Robert Rathburn, Roxanne
and Wendell “Skip” Peiffer, all of Hubbardston; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry
and Merrie Girvin of Hubbardston, Andrew Girvin of Mason, Jeffery and Mary
Girvin of Crystal; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Foster and Dorothy Girvin of Sidney, Frank and Ruth Girvin of
Crystal, Lavern “Jim’ and Nita Girvin of Arcadia, Fla.; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Lillian Worthington of Clearwater, Fla., Doris and Robert Huyck
of Lake Odessa, Bernice and Clare Gale of Lansing.

He was preceded in death by parents, Harold and Katie Girvin; wife, Mazie
Girvin; sister, Mazie MacDougall; grandson, Robert Shane Rathburn;
granddaughter, Marcy Peiffer; special friend, Ruth Scribner.

Memorial services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson
City, with the Rev. Ken Nash officiating.  Interment is in East Plains Cemetery,
Matherton.  Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral
home.  Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
