The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Wednesday, March 13, 1912

The funeral for William Gladding was attended Tuesday afternoon from the 
church of Shanty Plains.  There was a large attendance, more people than could 
find seats in the church.  The burial was in the cemetery there.  Mr. Gladding 
was an old soldier, well known and highly esteemed and had long been a 
resident of the locality where he died.  His demise last week Saturday was due 
to erysipelas.
