Fred Glasgow died at his home near Grand Ledge, on Monday May 18th of inflammation of the bowels. The remains were brought to this village, and the funeral held this forenoon at the Congregational Church, Rev. W.H. Skentelbury preaching the sermon, after which the remains were laid at rest in Lakeside cemetery beside those of his mother who passed away when Fred was but twenty days old. But very few knew of the boy's illness, and the announcement of his death came as a shock to his many friends here. He was born on February 7th, 1884 at Odessa Center and had lived most of his life in Odessa township. This spring Mr and Mrs.Chas Glasgow sold their farm here and bought another near Grand Ledge.Fred being much devoted to his home, went along. He was a faithful worker and his spare time of late had been spent in studying chemistry, being a student of one of the principal correspondence schools. He was preparing for and had intended to enter the Agricultural College this fall to finish his course. He was taken ill only about a week before his death, and all that could possible be done for the boy in he way of medicine and care was rendered, but to no avail, the disease baffling the many doctors called in.After the remains were brought here a post mortem was held, and it was found that his death was inevitable. Fred had a great circle of friends here where he was best known. He was an exemplary young man in every way.As honest and faithful as the day is long, studious to a fault, and had always interested himself in religious work. He leaves a father and four brothers behind, who are prostrated at he sudden death of the loved one. The brothers, all living at a distance, were unable to get her for the funeral.Mr.and Mrs.Chas. Glasgow have returned to their home but it was a sad home going. They can get lots of comfort out of the knowledge that the boy was one whom none could say a word against and that they are not alone in grief.
