Gleason, 77, of 540 Price died Thursday morning at Ionia County Memorial hospital where he had been a patient the past two days. Born in Lyons, Ohio, August 9, 1891, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Gleason and attended school in Ohio. In 1912 he was married to Leona VanWagoner in Ohio where they made their home on a farm until 1923 when they moved to Ionia. He was employed by the Ypsilanti Reed Furniture company. In 1928 he went to work for the Pere Marquette Railroad for eleven years, then was employed by AC Spark Plug in Ionia and also Brown Corp., Lyons before going into business for himself as a carpenter. He retired in 1965. He leaves three daughters, Mrs. Anton Thomas of Paris, Calif., Mrs. Harold Blunk of Lakewood, Calif., Mrs. Vernor Nelson of Ionia; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Boynton-Leddick funeral home with Rev. A.R. Gallert officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
