The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, May 27, 1946


Joe Gene Goar, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard A. Goar, of Tipton, Indiana, 
was killed in an automobile accident east of Ionia on M-21 Saturday evening, 
May 25.  

He was born in Tipton, Indiana, March 3, 1919, and was married to Valeta Nancy 
Hoople a year ago March.  He was employed by the Grand Valley Packing company 
as salesman with a route from Battle Creek to Kalamazoo.

He is survived by his wife; an infant son, Terry Joe; two children by a former 
marriage, Linda Sue and Kip Lewis; his parents, his two grandmothers and a 
grandfather.

There will be a short service at the Myers funeral home Tuesday May 28, at 10 
a.m. and the body will be taken to Tipton where a service will be held 
Wednesday afternoon.  Interment will be at the Fairview cemetery.  The Rev. 
Dwight Kitch will officiate at the services in Ionia and the Rev. Mr. Croxell 
will officiate in Tipton.
