F. Goff Aged Resident Dies After Suffering Stroke of Paralysis. B. F. Goff died Thursday at his home in this village, following a stroke of paralysis the preceding Friday. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, the Rev. D. E. Millard conducting the service. Mr. Goff came to Portland in 1866 moving from Wayne county. For a time he conducted a hotel which stood on the site of the present west side livery. When that was destroyed by fire he moved to the old Portland house and ran that hostelry for a number of years. For twenty years he has been employed by the Portland Manufacturing Co. and was at his lathe until the day before he was stricken. In the days of the discovery of gold in California Mr. Goff was one of the intrepid young men who braved the dangers. Mr. and Mrs. Goff a few years ago celebrated their 50th anniversary. Two children survive him. They are Frank Goff., jr. and Mrs. Henry Probert.
