Portland Review
Benn J. Goff, 78, of 939 James St. in Portland, died Monday (Dec. 22) at the 
Ionia Manor, in Ionia.  Surviving are one son, Dr. James W. Goff of Portland; 
and one daughter, Janet Wawiernia, of Mulliken. Other survivors include nine 
great-grandchildren and 10 grandchildren.  
Mr. Goff was a former Portland fire chief a
nd building contractor in Portland.  He belonged to the carpenters’ union local 
1449.  He also was a foreman at the Granger Construction Co. in Lansing.  He was 
a life member and past master of the Portland lodge 31 of F. and A. M.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday (Dec 2) at 1 pm at the Neller Funeral 
Home in Portland.  Masonic services will be held at the funeral home.  Burial 
will be in the Portland cemetery.
