He was the fifth child of John Goodemoot and Mary Creighton. Both his parents had by a previous marriage, four children each. This consequently made a large group relationship. Bereft of a father at the age of 15 years he had charge of the home with a mother and a blind uncle. July 4, 1891 he was united in marriage to Dora Estep who died December 21, 1917. To this union nine children were born. The first of September, 1919, he moved his family to the village of Lake Odessa placing the five children at home, in high school here. He has been a farmer all his life not relinquishing his interest after leaving the farm. Early in life he united with the Presbyterian Church. Later when a Church of Christ was organized at West Sebewa, near his home, he joined there. During the pastorate of the Rev. Ora F. Bulman he united with the Methodist church here where he has been a faithful member until his death. His special interest was in the choir where he was always present. His thought for the Easter music was often in his mind during his illness. He was a direct descendant through his mother of Oliver Wolcott, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He made many friends wherever he went who will greatly miss his coming. Card of Thanks: We and our beloved husband and father deeply appreciated the many acts of thoughtfulness tendered him during his sickness – for these their continuation and the kindly assistance received since, we can only say “thank you” as words fail to express our sincere appreciation. The many kindnesses will never be forgotten. Mrs. L. A. Dann-Goodemoot and the children.
