Goodemoot, aged 80, of Sebewa Township, passed away at his home late Christmas evening, Dec. 25, 2008. Richard was born in Sebewa Township on June 20, 1928 to Allyn and Florence (Fox) Goodemoot. He was a graduate of Lake Odessa High School and was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. Richard was united in marriage to Marian Shivlie on Aug. 9, 1950 in Lake City. He had worked at the Lake Odessa Co-Op Elevator for many years, but his heart was always on the family farm which he farmed with his brothers. Richard was a sports fanatic and loved his Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether hunting and or fishing, or spending time with his family at “The Pond”. He is survived by his loving wife, Marian; his children, Kenneth (Teri) Goodemoot, Keith Goodemoot, Jane (Tim) Taylor and Kendall (Missy) Goodemoot; grandchildren, Corey Goodemoot, Darby (Dawn) Goodemoot, Lynsey Evangelista, Richard Goodemoot, Justin Taylor, Brandon Goodemoot, Alex Goodemoot, Skyler Goodemoot, Alauna Goodemoot, and Houston Wells; great-grandchildren, Josh Goodemoot, Cedir Goodemoot, Greyson Goodemoot, Garrit Goodemoot, Cholie Evangelista, Domonic Evangelista, Anthony Taylor, Janie Taylor and Bryce Goodemoot; brother, Mike (Virginia) Goodemoot; sister, Ruby Williams, many more loving family members; and many loving and caring neighbors. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Thorp; and brother, Pat Goodemoot. Visitation with the family will be from noon until 3 p.m. on Monday, December 29 at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. In keeping with Richard’s wishes, a simple service at the funeral home will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. on Monday. Private interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery. The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia Area Hospice.
