Goodenough, 86, of Sheridan passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Mildred was born August 9, 1918 in Ronald Township, to Robert H. and Josephine (Palmer) Walker. As a graduate of County Normal, Mildred taught in several one room schools in the area during the late 1940s and early 50s. Some of those schools included the Fairplains and Amsden schools. She was married to Ira (Pat) Goodenough on June 25, 1949 at the North Plains church south of Palo. Mildred and Pat were married for 42 years until his death in 1992. They were blessed with four children, Maro and Gayle Jenks of Sheridan, JoAnn and Tim Dudenhofer of Sidney, Marcia and Doug Beardsley of Columbia, Tennessee, and Robert and Darcie Goodenough of Stanton, in addition to 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a step daughter, Diana and Rollie Teachworth of Blanchard and one brother and his wife, Louie and Gladys Walker of Belding. For the last year and a half, she was a resident at Metron of Greenville where she enjoyed making friends, attending the church services, playing bingo, working on art and craft projects and she also became a member of the Red Hat Society. After accepting Christ as her Savior, Mildred was baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church of Stanton where she and her family attended. In recent years, she transferred her membership to the Nevins Lake Church where her son is currently now serving as Pastor and where she continued to be actively involved in the church activities. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan. Funeral services will be on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Nevins Lake Church in Stanton. Pastor Ken Kraft of the First Baptist Church of Stanton will be officiating. Interment will be at the Sheridan Cemetery in Sheridan. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial considerations to: Either the Moody Bible Institute or Nevins Lake Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and also at the church.
