Goodenough, 64, 527 W. May St., died suddenly Monday noon at his home of a heart attack. Mr. Goodenough, arc welder for Gibson for 15 years, was born April 20, 1894, in Ionia County, the son of George and Rachel Goodenough. He had lived in Belding vicinity for 38 years. A veteran of World War 1, he enlisted at Ionia, June 28, 1917, and received his discharge May 15, 1917. He was a sergeant with the 32nd Division and fought in the battles of Alsace-Loraine and in the Neuser Argonne offensive. Mr. Goodenough was a member of the VFW and American Legion of Belding. On July 4, 1920, he married the former Ada Taylor at Lowell. She survives. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Carl Houserman, and two nieces, Mrs. David Mockey and Miss Joyce Houserman, all of Saranac, and one nephew, Paul Boger, Grand Rapids. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home with the Rev. H.S. Ellis officiating. Military services will be conducted by the Belding VFW and American Legion. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
