Little Beatrice Goodenough of Orange a Victim Last Week. Ionia county has been a storm center for the past month, but there has been little damage, comparatively speaking, from lightening itself. Last Thursday evening, however, at 10 o’clock the third severe storm of recent date claimed a victim in the person of little Beatrice, eight-year-old daughter of Wm. Goodenough of Orange. The family live on what is known as the old Goodenough farm, a half mile west and a half mile south of the LeValley church. The parents and three children were retired. The parents were in their room. The children were in another lying on a bed made upon the floor, and all were sound asleep. Suddenly the father realized the house had been struck by lightning, and evidently being his first intimation of the storm. He rushed out into the room where the little ones were sleeping and found Beatrice dead. Her twin sister was slightly burned about the eye which was inflamed, but the third child, the youngest was unharmed. The house was not set on fire nor much damage done to it.
