Robert Joseph Gooding, 59, of Ionia, passed away Dec. 12, 2013.  He was born 
Oct. 2, 1954, in Sheridan, the son of Edmond and Eva Marie (McCave) Gooding.

Robert married Mary Lou on May 3, 1997, in Ionia.  He was caring, generous, and 
enjoyed life.  Robert was a good father and enjoyed traveling with his wife.  
He was an avid bow hunter, very handy, and regularly attended Crossroads Church 
in Ionia.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lou Gooding of Ionia; children, 
Edmond (Davina) Gooding of Texas, Darin Elliott of Rockford, Denise (Pete) 
Castor of Ionia, Derek Elliott of Ionia, and Devin Elliott of Seattle; 
grandson, Noah Manono; brothers, Roger (Susan) Gooding of Crystal and James 
(Maureen) Gooding of Illinois; sister, Mary Lou Gooding of New Mexico; step-
mother, Patricia Gooding of Greenville and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  He 
was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16 at Lake Funeral Home 
of Ionia with Pastor Mark Delap and Pastor Steve Yarrington officiating.  
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home.  
Memorial donations may be made in Robert's name to the American Cancer Society 
Hope Lodge in Grand Rapids or Faith Hospice.
