Goodman, 20, suffered fatal wounds in an ambush by enemy troops in Vietnam, according to word received from the Defense Department by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George A. Goodman, of Portland Rte. 2. Goodman, who operated road-building equipment with Company C, 589th Engineers, was wounded Monday and died the next day in an Army hospital. He would have been in Vietnam a year on Feb. 23. He attended St. Patrick’s High School and graduated in 1966 from Portland High School. Survivors include three brothers, Gerald, Eugene and Ronald; three sisters, Mrs. Joyce Curns, Mrs. Ronald Shinaver, and Gladys, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Goodman all of Portland.
