Ellen L. Goodmiller, 78, of Ionia, passed away April 5, 2012 at the Carson City 
hospital surrounded by  her loving family.

Ellen was born in Boston, Mass., on June 10, 1933. Ellen graduated from high 
school with the Class of 1951 and proudly served her country in the United 
States Navy as a petty officer at the Bainbridge, Mass. Naval Base during the 
Korean War from 1952 to 1954.

It was in her travels with the United States Navy that she met Army First 
Lieutenant Charles Goodmiller. Following their military service, Charles and 
Ellen married in Detroit on May 27, 1954 and settled down in Ionia to raise a 
family. It was Ellen who was instrumental in Charles' success as founder and 
operator of Giant's Enterprises of Ionia, Inc. from 1968 to 2003. Ellen also 
had a great compassion for animals and was well known for her knowledge and 
business savvy when buying, selling and collecting antiques.

Ellen is survived by and will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 57 
years, Charles Goodmiller of Ionia; children, Terese (Charles) Listerman of 
Ionia, Michael Goodmiller of Ionia, and Ellen (Ronald) Bowling of Ionia; 
grandchildren, Amada (Wayne) Willaman of Battle Creek, Erin (Jeff) Melnick of 
Hubbard, Ohio and Logan Bowling of Ionia; and great grandchildren, Macy 
Willaman. 

In honoring her wishes and to commemorate her life, a private memorial service 
with her family was held. Arrangements are by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. 
Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions Ionia Area Hospice or the Ionia 
County Memorial Hospital in memory of Ellen.
