Goodrich—passed away at his home on Lincoln street late Thursday afternoon, following a long period of feeble health. For the past five years he had been almost blind. Despite his suffering he took his lot cheerfully and never uttered a word of complaint. Rev. Wm. W. Slee, of the M. E. church, was the officiating clergyman at the funeral, which was attended from the late residence Saturday afternoon at 1:30. Interment took place in Portland cemetery. William T. Goodrich was born February 12, 1831, in Grinnage county, O. At the age of one year he moved with his parents to Bellevue, O., and it was here that he married Elizabeth Parsons, of Senaca county, that state. The couple moved to Hastings, Mich., in 1858, and after a year’s residence there located on a farm in section 22, Sebewa township, which Mr. Goodrich recently sold. The couple came to Portland village in 1881. Mrs. Goodrich died in 1894 and two years later deceased was married to Miss Harriet Nicholson, of this place, who survives. Mr. Goodrich was the father of two sons by his first marriage, both of whom preceded him in death. Besides the widow a granddaughter, Mrs. Robert Rose, who had been at her grandparent’s bedside much of the time during his long illness, survives.
