Born in Monterey in Schuller county, New York, September 4, 1862, he lived with his grandparents for 19 years on their farm, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Goodrich of Monterey, N.Y., dying when he was a child. During that time he attended Cook’s academy and Elmira city schools. For six years he lived in Clearfield, Pa., and Corning N.Y. August 17, 1887, Mr. Goodrich and his grandparents came to be near his aunt, Mrs. Oscar Webber, and his uncle, B.B. Hall. He studied the ministry in Sioux City, Iowa and in 1890 returned to Ionia. On Easter Sunday in 1897, he was united in marriage with Miss Anna B. Freeman by Dr. J.T. Oxtoby of the First Presbyterian church in Ionia. In 1910 he moved to his present home. For 16 years Mr. Goodrich conducted a photograph studio in the Morse Babock building and during the remaining years cared for real estate and cemetery work. He is survived by three children, Mrs. Paul Courter of Ionia, Mrs. Beulah Augusta Warner of Caro, and Barned? Goodrich of Birmingham, and three grandchildren, Bryce Courter, Gaylord Courter and Bernard Courter of Ionia. Funeral services will be conducted at his home at 401 Union street Saturday, April 5 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Adam Westmaas officiating. Interment will be in Highland Park cemetery.
