He was found in the basement by his wife, Eva. Dr. M. A. Hoffs and Coroner Harry Meyers of Ionia were called and they attributed death to a heart attack. Mr. Goodsell was born in Lowell on May 29, 1886. When a small child he came with his parents to Lake Odessa where the father practiced dentistry. The family later returned to Lowell where Byron received most of his schooling. He later was employed at the George Marvin hardware store in Clarksville for a number of years. In 1912 he moved to Lake Odessa and entered the employ of Lapo & Griffin hardware. A year later he purchased the William Briggs hardware which he operated until his retirement two years ago. He ever won the confidence of the people by his square dealing and accommodating spirit. He had served as village clerk, and councilman for a number of years. He was married to Miss Ethel Dintmann November 3, 1929, who died in October, 1931. On June 27, 1933, he was married to Mrs. Eva Slater who survives him. He is also survived by one brother Clare and several nieces in Lake Odessa, and a nephew in Saginaw. The funeral was held from the late home Monday afternoon with the Rev. Ronald A. Hoffman of Lansing officiating. Pall bearers were Thomas, Leigh, William, Allen, Alfred and John Slater, all of Grand Rapids. Interment was made in Lakeside cemetery. Hoffman of Lansing; Mrs. Herald Klechammer of Columbus, O., Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Slater and family and George and Orson Coe of Ionia.
