Wave, Thurs. Dec. 16, 1948 Hero Returns Here For Burial The body of Sgt. Carol (Mike) E. Goodsell will arrive here Saturday noon. He was born near Saranac March 20, 1915, and attended two years at Saranac high school. The family moved here in 1935 and resided in the home now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Thomas. "Mike" entered service April 6, 1943 and left for overseas in September of the same year where he served in the African Campaign and was killed May 23, 1944 on the Anzio Beach head. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Gertie English of Kent City and Mrs. Edna Gilliland of Kalamazoo and a brother, Lawrence Goodsell A.M.C. at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The body will repose at the Pickens chapel until taken to Saranac Sunday at 2 o'clock where graveside services will be held at the Saranac cemetery under the auspices of the V.F.W. Post of Saranac. Rev. Humphrey will officiate. Members of the La Verne Demeray Post, American Legion, are asked to attend the service at Saranac if possible.
