Goodwin and Was 72 Years Old. H. S. Goodwin, better known as Seymour, died Wednesday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward VanDureskey, in Lansing. He had gone there about a week previous, because of ill health, which developed into a stroke. He was a son of the late Charles E. Goodwin, (J.K. Swipes to readers of the Review) and was born in this village 72 years ago. When he was about seven his parents moved to the farm in Christian Bend, a name his father applied to a neighborhood lying along Grand river in the northwestern part of Portland Township. Of late years he raised melons extensively, selling them in nearby communities. Mr. Goodwin’s wife was the former Emily Dilley. She died about four years ago. Surviving children are Claud, Pewamo, Coral, at home; and Mrs. VanDureskey, Lansing. There are three brothers, Howard, Rolla also Edward L., all residents of this vicinity. Funeral services were held at the Bandfield Chapel Sunday afternoon and burial was in Portland Cemetery.
