E. Goolthrite was born in North Plains township, Ionia county, February 28, 1873, and was the son of Oscar and Drucilla Goolthrite. While still a child he came with his parents to Bloomer township, Montcalm county, where he has since resided. He departed this life June 9, 1933, at the age of 60 years, 3 months and 11 days. The past two years he has suffered from ill health patiently and uncomplainingly. He was united in marriage to Charlotte M. Bishop March 25, 1909. Soon after they settled at their present home where he was a successful farmer, a devoted husband and a man well respected by his friends and neighbors. Besides his widow left to mourn her loss, Mr. Goolthrite is survived by three brothers, Eugene Goolthrite of Mt. Pleasant, James Clinton Goolthrite of Carson City and Robert Goolthrite of Bloomer township, two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Buckingham of St. Charles, Ill., and Mrs. Eva Kreishbaum of Bloomer township, and several nephews and nieces. Also one half brother, Byron Goolthrite and one half sister, Mrs. Frances Boyer, preceded him in death. The funeral services were held at the late home near Bloomer Center Monday afternoon, Rev. F. N. Drake, pastor of the Hubbardston Methodist church, officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the west side cemetery at Hubbardston. Among those from away to attend the last rites were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Buckingham of St. Charles, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Goolthrite and daughter Fern of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Ruby Harris of Detroit.
