Mr. Goolthrite was a native of New York state where he was born in March 1829 being in his 73rd year at the time of his death. He assisted in the harvest field this week and Wednesday night retired in his usual health. Shortly after midnight he complained of a pain in his stomach. His wife asked him if they should summon a physician but he said he would be all right pretty soon and died in a short time. He had been a resident of Michigan over fifty years and has lived twenty-six years on his farm two miles south of town. He was a successful farmer, an honest man, and a citizen whom the community at large highly respected. Byron Goolthrite of Lebanon and Mrs. Eli Boyer of Bloomer, a son and daughter by a previous marriage, and a widow, four sons, Clinton, Eugene, Robert and Joseph, and two daughters, Mrs. Eva Kreighbaum and Miss Carrie Goolthrite survive him. The funeral services will be held at his late home Saturday at 2 p.m. and burial will be made in the Hubbardston cemetery.
