Her death resulted from an attack of pneumonia. She died in the midst of dire poverty and want, aided in her last hours by generous Portland neighbors, after she had been deserted by her husband and had been found Thursday, delirious, sitting up in bed, clasping in her arms the dead body of her youngest child, a newly born infant. Mrs. Gorman lived on Kent street and previous to her marriage about a year ago to Gorman was Mrs. Martha Hall. There were three children, the eldest a boy of 14. Gorman deserted the family, it is stated, later and it is also charged that he squandered a sum of money which Mrs. Gorman and her son had saved up. Since then the mother and the 14-year-old son have succeeding in providing for the small family until Mrs. Gorman became ill. Since that time the children have been practically destitute.
