ELMER H. GOSTNELL 1929 -2017
  Elmer H. Gostnell, age 87, of Lake Odessa passed away Jan. 31, 2017, surrounded by
his family.
   Elmer was born on Aug. 7, 1929, in Ionia, Michigan.  He married Eulah VanSiclen
on March 15, 1952.  She Survives.  They were married 64 years.
   Elmer was proceeded in death by his parents, George & Reva A Gostnell; son,
Donald E.; two grandsons, Donnie C. son of Donald Corey J. Hynes son of Helen; 
granddaughter, Vicki E. daughter of Jerry & Judy Gostnell.  He was also preceded 
in death by his two brothers Evertt and Howard Gostnell of Lansing, MII.; and his 
sister, Thelma Rittenger of Lowell, MI.
   Elmer is survived by his son, Jerry (Judy) Gostnell of Alvada Oho; daughters,
Helen (Doug) Ames of Hastings, Deborah (Tom) Kasdorf of Hubbardston, MI; and their
children and grandchildren.  
   Elmer enlisted in the Army in 1946 at the end of World War II he served in the
Korean War where he earned the Bronze Star with V for Valor.  Elmer left the Army in 
1956, returning to Lake Odessa and securing employment at the Lake Odessa Machine Shop, 
leaving the Machine Shop he then worked for Scheidts Hardware as an appliance repairman, 
Elmer than moved on to the Lake Odessa Canning Company (Twin City Foods) where he 
worked as an ammonia engineer until he retired in 1999.  Elmer enjoyed the great 
outdoors, fishing and hunting.  Elmer also enjoyed bowling and golf.  Elmer spent many 
hours in his wood shop where he would build anything asked of him, especially for 
his family.
   Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Koops
Funeral Chapel.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 11:00 11 a.m. 
at Koops Funeral Chapel with burial taking place immediately following at Lakeside 
Cemetery in Lake Odessa MI.
