Mrs. Gott and her two daughters, Dorothy and Florence, left Ionia Sunday for Crystal Lake where they had been staying with Mrs. Paul Leslie of Ionia, in the Leslie house car. Mr. Gott and Mr. Leslie had been driving back and forth to work in Ionia where they are employed at the Ypsilanti Reed factory. At about 2:30 Mrs. Gott was taken ill and Mr. Gott was notified. An ambulance was sent for Mrs. Gott to bring her to her home where she died soon after her arrival. This is the third stroke which she has suffered, as she was ill for several months last year from the effects of one of these attacks which were thought to be due to high blood pressure. She was born in Bay City, November 16, 1890. Irene Whorley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Whorley, and moved with her parents to Easton Township when she was 10 years old. On October 28, 1914 she was married to August Gott of Ionia, and they have resided in Ionia since. Survivors are her husband, August; two daughters, Dorothy 17, who was graduated from the Ionia high school this year with the class of 1937; Florence, who is 12; three brothers, Claude Whorley of Paris, Royce Whorley of Easton, and Willis Whorley of Detroit; one sister, Mrs. Marjorie Marachofsky of New York City. Another sister, Mrs. Herbert Ward of Ionia, died in 1927. Mrs. Gott was a member of the chapter of Eastern Star of Ionia, and three years ago held the office of warder. She is remembered in this official position by other members of the organization because of a particularly suitable voice and enunciation for the work. She was a former member of the relief corps auxiliary of the DAR, and has always been a member of the Methodist church. Funeral services will be held from the home at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon and from the church at 2:30 o’clock. The casket will not be open at the church but friends may view the body at the home. ---------------------- Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Gott who died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon at her home on King Street after suffering a stroke while at Crystal lake on a camping trip, were held from the home at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, and at 2:30 o’clock from the Methodist Episcopal Church, with Rev. Frederick Dunbar officiating. Interment was at Easton Cemetery. Music for the services was by Miss Mary Margaret Howard at the organ, and flowers were in charge of Mrs. Bess Darling, Mrs. Mae Gustafson, Miss Nadine Dancer and Miss Esther Galloway. Bearers were Leon Lockwood, Wilson Dalzell, Paul Leslie, Blaine Laden, Harvey Gustafson and Arthur Fox. Relatives and friends attending from away were Mr. and Mrs. Claude Whorley of Paris, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Whorley of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Whorley of Orange, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Johnson of Lowell, Mrs. Edna Hunt and daughter Effie, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gott and family of Vestaburg, Mr. and Mrs. Don Niles of Lowell, Mr. and Mrs. Judd Gott of Detroit, George Little of Coleman, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Smith of Lansing, Miss Jessie Smith of Belding, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Higley of Grand Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Bainey Delo of Detroit, Mrs. Marvin Harvey of Clarksville, Mrs. Jane Yeomans of El Reno, Okla., and B.A. Yeomans of Magnolia Springs, Alabama.
