The remains were brought here Monday afternoon for burial beside those of his wife. Mr. Gott was a painter and paper-hanger and for years did a good business here. Of late he had lived with his son Willis, who is a successful business man at Detroit. There is another son, Garry, and a daughter, who will be better remembered in Portland as Mrs. Huntoon. Portland Review – Tuesday, 4 February 1919 Last week’s review contained brief mention of the death of George Gott, a former resident, at the home of his son Willis in Detoit. Death was due to paralysis. Mr. Gott was 82 years old, but despite this was very active, and had been helping his son Willis in the store. Wednesday morning he arose at the usual time, but fell back on the bed while dressing. The doctors called it a paralytic stroke, though Mr. Gott was not unconscious, even up to the moment of his death. Mrs. Ted Wilson, of Portland, was a niece, her mother and Mr. Gott having been brother and sister.
