Gotwalt, 75, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday morning, Dec. 27, 2006, in the emergency room of the Spectrum Health United Memorial United Campus, Greenville. The son of Archie and Ida Atkinson Gotwalt, he was born on June 16, 1931, in Lakeview. On Dec. 7, 1953, in Sand Lake, he married Arlene M. Roberts. Together, they enjoyed 43 years of marriage and raised four children. After serving in the U.S. Army, Don began working at the former Gibson Refrigerator Co., retiring after nearly 30 years of service. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffrey Jay Gotwalt, on May 25, 1994; his wife, Arlene M. Gotwalt, on June 7, 1997; and a daughter, Kathleen Marie Gotwalt Coville, on Aug. 3, 2001. Surviving are two sons, Donald L. Gotwalt of Greenville, Rick and Sandy Gotwalt of Stanton; a son-in-law, Scott Coville of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Karie Gotwalt-Donaldson of Greenville; six brothers, Eugene and Patricia Gotwalt of Greenville, Gerald and Bonnie Gotwalt of Sidney, Gordon and Virginia Gotwalt of Greenville, Roger and Rita Gotwalt of Grattan, Wayne and Karie Gotwalt of Grand Rapids, Ronald and Kay Gotwalt of Ludington; 10 grandchildren, Kelly Brune, Greg Gotwalt, Amber Lewis, Jason Gotwalt, Mindy Gotwalt, Courtney Coville, Shannon Boire, Nichole Perry, Japhett Gallagher, Daniel Gotwalt; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services are at noon Saturday at Greenville Community Church, 6596 S. Vining Road, Greenville, with Pastor Tom Hansen officiating. Private burial will take place after the service at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, is serving the family and has been entrusted with the arrangements.
