Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 14 Feb 1951

Services for George Goward who died at Butterworth hospital Saturday morning
were conducted by the Rev. George Rentschler at Boynton’s Tuesday at 2 p.m. 
Interment was in Tuttle cemetery.  Flowers were in charge of Mrs. John Roberts,
Mrs. Mable Mundt.  Bearers were George Benedict, Clare Galloway, Leo Fuller,
John Roberts, Guy McCoy and Jim Hopkins.

Attending from out of town were Mrs. E.C. Dunckley, Shirley and Edna, of
Frederic; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Beinshuttle, Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Henkle and Mr.
and Mrs. William Raymond of Corunna; Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Dunckley of Walled Lake;
Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Dunckley of East Detroit; Mrs. Margaret Wend, Mrs. Archie
Burlingame and D. Burlingame of Lansing; Mrs. Almeda Frazier, Mrs. Earl Barney,
Mr. and Mrs. Ton Goward, Mr. and Mrs. John Goward, Mrs. Morley Partridge, Dale
Goward and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nichols of Bancroft; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Frazier of
Owosso; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Chase of Flint; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Biddlecomb of Port
Huron; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Willing of Brown City; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Swarthwood of
Perry; Mr. and Mrs. Ned Hart of Laingsburg; and Mr. and Mrs. George Benedict and
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hopkins of Lyons.

Born in Hazelton township 12 Feb 1899 to John and Elizabeth Goward.
Attended Corunna schools.
Was a barber in Corunna; moved 18 years ago and was employed as a guard at the
Ionia Reformatory for 14 years.
Survived by his widow and a daughter, Mrs. Emery Townsend and two grandchildren.
