The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, March 17, 1953

John D. Grace, 70, of 1026 North Pine street, Lansing, died in Lansing Monday, 
March 16.  He was chief engineer at the Ionia reformatory from April, 1923, 
until July, 1933.  He was a life member of the Elks in Ionia.  Grace had lived 
in Lansing since 1943.

Surviving are the wife, Margaret; two sons, M. J. of Jackson and Joseph of 
Lansing; two daughters, Mrs. Marion Clark and Mrs. Robert Wilson of Lansing; 
10 grandchildren; six brothers, Jerry and Charles of Lansing, Thomas and Will 
of Carson City, Joseph of Ionia and George of Detroit; and a sister, Mrs. E. 
E. McKane of Detroit.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Lansing.  The 
Rev. Fr. William Hankard will officiate.  Interment will be in St. Joseph 
cemetery.  Rosary will be said Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at the Palmer-Bush 
funeral home, 520 E. Mt. Hope Avenue, Lansing.
