She must have known it and went into the house for water as afterward they found where the pantry shelf had ignited from her clothing. They all ran to her assistance but before they could get there she again came out doors and was enveloped in flames. They put her on the ground and tried to smother the flames with rugs but with the exception of some undergarments, her clothing was all burned from her body. Dr. Geib, assisted by kind friends and neighbors, did everything to relive her suffering but she died that night about one o’clock. The remains were taken to the home of her brother, John Slattery, northwest of town. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Edward Burns. The deceased was 62 years of age and lived a very secluded life here alone for many years in her home, commonly known as the old Fagen house. The funeral will be held Tuesday at the St. John’s Catholic church.
