A former Belding resident, Lon Grace, died on a sidewalk here Tuesday night, 
apparently from a heart attack.  Mr. Grace, who moved with his family from 
Belding to a suburb of Los Angeles, Cal., in the spring of 1947, had returned 
here Tuesday morning to complete the removal of some household furnishing from 
his former home in the 100 block of E. Liberty St.  He arrived in Belding by 
bus from Grand Rapids, where Mrs. Grace had stopped off to visit a niece, Mrs. 
Charles Elvey.

Tuesday evening Mr. Grace was a dinner guest at the home of a former neighbor, 
Mrs. Lester P. Krell.  He left the Krell home about 8 p.m. to visit other 
friends and then return to his former residence, now owned by Donald Bottomley, 
just two houses away from the Krell home.  Ross Huffman, local mortician, came 
upon Mr. Grace’s body lying on the sidewalk in front of the Russell Moore home, 
next door to the Krell house.  A local doctor pronounced him dead and Coroner 
Harry Meyers of Ionia attributed the death to a heart ailment.

Mr. Grace was a driver for Johnson Bros. years ago when the family resided at 
Chadwick.  Later he owned his own truck and dray and just before leaving 
Belding 2½ years ago was a painter and decorator here.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, who had accompanied his 
father and mother from California and with his wife and daughter, continued to 
Detroit to visit friends and relatives there.  

The body is at the Fales-Huffman Funeral Home here but arrangements for the 
last rites are incomplete.
