The Portland Observer, Thursday, December 14, 1922

The death of George Graft, veteran of the Civil war, occurred on Tuesday of 
last week, at the home of his son, Reuben, in Danby township, following an 
illness from ailments incident to old age.

Mr. Graft was born in Germany 87 years ago and came to American when 17 years 
of age, settling in Ohio, where he enlisted in the war.  In 1867 he settled in 
Danby where he resided until his death.  Besides the son, Reuben, he is 
survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jennie Urie, of Lansing.
