The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, August 11, 1955


Mrs. Martha Grams, 76, of Lansing died Thursday morning at 9 o’clock.

Survivors are one son, LaVern Grams of Lansing; five daughters, Mrs. Esther 
Lower and Mrs. Dorothy Frost of Ionia, Mrs. Martha Hecht of Fowler, Mrs. Clara 
Purdy and Mrs. Edna Culp of Lansing; one sister, Mrs. Lena Smith and one 
brother, Fred Miller of Ionia. 

Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Subsequent Publication:  Friday, August 12, 1955

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Grams of 738 Center street will be conducted 
by Palmer-Bush funeral home of Lansing at the St. John Lutheran church in 
Ionia, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock.  The Rev. Eric Cash will officiate and 
interment will be at Highland park cemetery.

The body will repose at the Palmer-Bush funeral home in Lansing until Saturday 
afternoon when it will be brought to the St. John Lutheran church at one 
o’clock where it will lie in state until the funeral service.

Surviving are one son, LaVern Grams of Lansing; five daughters, Mrs. Esther 
Lower and Mrs. Dorothy Frost of Ionia, Mrs. Martha Hecht of St. Johns, Mrs. 
Clara Purdy and Mrs. Edna Culp of Lansing; one sister Mrs. Lena Smith and one 
brother, Fred Miller, both of Ionia, nine grandchildren and ten great-
grandchildren.
