His mother died when he was a small boy and he came to this country with his father when 9 years old, locating at Kiddville near this city where he grew to manhood, and where his father was engaged in the shoemaking business for many years. Deceased enlisted in the civil war in December, 1861, and served until the close of the rebellion, after which he returned to his home here and on Sept. 8, 1867, was married to Ellen M. Belding. To this union six children were born, four of whom are still living, as follows: Frank, Carl, Glenn and Lewis. His wife died June 12, 1903. Mr. Granger preached and practiced doing unto others as he would like to be done by, and for this reason he had hosts of friends and no enemies. Funeral services were held at his late home at 1:30 o’clock last Sunday afternoon, and were largely attended by relatives and friends, Mrs. Luella K. Webster delivering the address. The pall bearers were : J. D. Morse, Geo. F. Brown, Asher Shaw, Oscar Day, Charles Wright and Bert Fisk. Interment in the family lot in the Otisco cemetery. Among the relatives in attendance at the funeral, were: Glenn Granger and wife, Carl Granger and son, Lewis Granger, Mrs. Frank Granger and two children, of Gladstone; Mrs. L. Hadder and son Albert, of Six Lakes; T. B. Relding and daughter Mrs. J. W. Perrin, of Minneapolis, Minn.; Ed. Belding and wife, of this city; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Belding and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Ira Richmond and son, of Otisco; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Harrington, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Snyder and Mr. and Mrs. Moses Holcomb, of Ronald; and Norman Putney and daughter, of Ionia.
