Mrs. Ida M., wife of Dr. J.P. Grannis of this city, was born in Branch county, Michigan, July 13, 1855. Her parents, Rev. Hiram and Lavina Clisbee, were devoted Christians and carefully trained their children in the Bible. She experienced religion at the age of fifteen, and immediately uniting with the M.E. church, remained a consistent member until promoted to heaven. She was married Oct. 31, 1877. With her husband she removed to this city in June, 1879. Failing health decided her to try for several months the benefits of Colorado climate. But finding her strength declining, she returned, with the doctor, to Ionia, about two weeks before her death. On Sunday evening, Oct. 26, she passed quietly and serenely to her home in heaven. One child had preceded her; one remains. In the various relations of friend, daughter, mother, wife, she was greatly beloved. She will be greatly missed in the M.E. church of the city. Her funeral, on last Wednesday, was largely attended at the family residence, Revs. C.L. Barnhart and L. Master conducting the services.
