Portland Observer, 1 Oct 1936

Tuesday afternoon Lloyd Grant 23, son of William Grant, of Berlin township, shot 
himself.  He then crawled to a barn where he was found dying.  The young man was 
to have been married Wednesday.  Members of the family said he was despondent 
because of ill health.
