Dr. William A. Grant, 83, of Milford died Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the county 
convalescent home on South Milford road where he had been for some time.  Dr. 
Grant had been an invalid following a stroke in 1954 and had been unable to 
walk.

He was born at Watson, August 26, 1879, the son of Dr. and Mrs. William R. 
Grant and was a graduate of Saginaw medical college.  In September 1902 he was 
married to Anna Marshall of Saginaw and they came to Lyons where he first 
practiced medicine.  His father, Dr. William R. Grant was also practicing in 
Lyons.  In 1918 he enlisted in World War I and served in the medical corps.  
Upon receiving his discharge, he took a post graduate course in New York and 
then practiced in Detroit until he received a call to come to Milford.  Later 
he took a course in urology.  Around 1950 he was voted the Doctor of the year 
and several state papers ran a story on him as the typical family doctor with 
pictures of him and Mrs. Grant and their home in Milford.  In Lyons he was 
always affectionately called “Doc Will”.  As an obstetrician he delivered 
thousands of babies and his price in 1917 for this was $15.

He is survived by his wife Anna, of Milford, one son, Dr. Lionel Grant of 
Milwaukee, Wis.; six grandchildren.  One son Marshall died some years ago.

Funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Milford funeral home, with 
burial at Milford.  Dr. Lionel Grant is with his mother at Milford.  Anyone 
wishing to contribute to a Memorial fund for Dr. Grant is to contact Mrs. H.F. 
Gardner of Lyons.
