Grant, 84, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Belding, passed away Tuesday evening, May 8, 2012 at St. Mary Health Center in Grand Rapids. Dick was born in Patterson, N.J. on May 22, 1927, the son of Richard A. and Regina C. (Mulroony) Grant. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, St. Mary Catholic Church, Farm Bureau, American Society of Professional Engineers and was appointed by Governor Jennifer Granholm to serve on the Michigan Commission for the Blind. Dick was very faith-filled, enjoyed gardening, learning, playing cards, volunteering within his parish and community and was a great conversationalist. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Dick was married on Aug. 22, 1949 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Miriam to Doris Daller and she preceded him on March 22, 2006. He was also preceded by his parents. Dick is loved and survived by his children; Rich (Barb) Grant, Doris A. (Sandy) Grant, Linda C. (Albert) Worth, Eileen M. Grant-Ball and Sharon L. Grant; his grandchildren; Kristin Braun, Holly Ball, John (Ashley) Ball; and great grandchildren; Lindsay Ball, Andrew Ball, Selah Braun and Liesl Braun; sister and brother-in-law, Anne "Nancy" (Peter) Savastano; brother-in-law and sister- in-law, Bill (Jean) Daller; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat (Fritz) Laux. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Miriam with Fathers John Vallier, Ayub Francis Nasar, and Jim Chelich presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. with scripture service at 7 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. The Rosary will be prayed for Dick at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Church before his Funeral Mass. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Ann's Home or Lacks Cancer Center.
