Colleen was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Holleran) Prendergast, born on February 9, 1942, in Owosso, Michigan. Upon graduation from St. Paul’s High School, Colleen completed laboratory and x-ray courses at Elkhart University, Elkhart, Indiana, and worked in Belding area hospitals. She later excelled at in-home childcare, forming many lifelong connections with the children and their families. Colleen was talented at baking, sewing, knitting and painting, and favored many with gifts of her own designs. Colleen’s gentle manner, quick wit and insatiable interest in others resulted in rich relationships which flourished throughout her life. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding. Colleen married Gary Grant on September 25, 1965. He survives her. She was beloved mother to: Kevin Grant, Belding; Kelly (Angie) Simmons, Sinking Springs, Pennsylvania; Molly (Art) Ward and Brian (Stacey) Grant of Rockford. She took great joy in her Grandchildren: Allison, Zachary and Jared Simmons; Katelynn, Mitchell and Jack Ward and Lauren Grant. Also surviving are three sisters: Martha (Gust) Triantafillou; Patty (Allan King) Prendergast and Rita (Dutch) Bouwman and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding, with Father Darrel Kempf presiding. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8, p.m., with a rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson- Feuerstein Funeral Home, 203 Pleasant St. Belding. Burial will take place privately in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the B Foundation.
