January 1, 2022 GRANT Kim L. Grant age 69, was unexpectedly called to the Lord on December 25th, 2021. He was born in West Branch, Michigan on September 3rd 1952 to Edward and Jan E. (Hicks) Grant. Kim spent the majority of his childhood in Florida until he returned at age 15 to live with his Grandparents. Kim was a 1970 graduate of Ionia high School and a 1984 graduate of Michigan State University. He was a United States Navy veteran. Kim returned to Florida and worked for the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, for several years, where he became a lifelong Gator as a accountant. He continued his career with Michigan Department of Corrections for decades retiring as a facility Manager in 2016. He was known as "chief" among his family and friends from his days on the softball field. He was an avid musician and enjoyed playing multiple instruments.He enjoyed downhill skiing, golfing, bowling, MSU, and Collecting coins. His greatest love was the"farm" in Ionia which is where he spent the majority of his life and lived until his passing. Kim was preceded in death by his parents, close Uncle Robert Z. Hicks and Grandparents Bob and Ferne Hicks. He is lovingly survived by his children Naomi (Denny)Ferguson of Ionia and Nathan Grant (Jenny) of Grand Rapids, former spouse and best friend Lori (Patrick) Grant. Grandchildren Kellan and Reese Ferguson, Siblings Steven (Maria) Grant of Miami FL, Pam (Jimmy) Christmas of Florida and Lin (John) Lutton of Florida, Aunt Betty Hicks of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, December 29th at 1P M at Orleans Cemetery in Orleans. Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral home of Ionia.
