M. Gravelle, a well known resident of Otisco township, died at his farm home about a mile from Smyrna at about midnight, Thursday, aged 85 years. Deceased was born in Canandaigua county, N.Y., and came to Michigan in 1854, since which time he has lived for the most part upon the farm where he died. He was married to Martha Crandall and to this union eight children, three boys and five girls, were born, all of whom survive him and are as follows: A.L., George W. and Frank Gravelle, Mrs. Adelia Rosevelt, Mrs. Mildred Miller, Mrs. Mary Angevine, Mrs. Alla Crosby and Mrs. Lille G. Earle. Mr. Gravelle was a mason by trade and many of the older residences in this section can furnish proof of the enduring quality of his handiwork. In religious belief he was an earnest believer in the tenets of the Second Adventists. Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter Mrs. C. W. Crosby, in Belding, on Sunday afternoon at two o’clock. Interment in Belding cemetery.
