He was born in Algonac, October 21, 1892 the son of William and Clara Lozon Graves and as a young child moved to Ionia. He attended school here and worked at Hayes body firm prior to service in World War I where he served in the Marine corps in Washington, D.C. and Paris Island, S.C. He was married to Jessie Wilson in Pontiac, September 28, 1924 and they made their home in Ionia where he worked at the Fisher Body plant until 1946 at which time they moved to their farm home on Westbrook road. He worked for the Ionia State hospital in the maintenance department until his retirement in 1957. He was a past member of the American Legion. Surviving are his wife Jessie; one son Gerald of Ionia; two daughters Mrs. Barney Terwilliger of Muir and Mrs. Max Tester of Pontiac; six grandchildren; two sisters in California. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Boynton funeral home with Rev. Robert McComb of First Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be in North Plains cemetery.
