Betty Jean Gray, aged 81, of Lyons, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2005 in 
Ionia. She was born October 24, 1924 in Parkersburg, West Virginia the 
daughter of Robert and Lilie (Hawk) George. 

She married Max Gray August 14, 1944 in Cumberland, Maryland who preceded her 
in death July 29, 1998. She was a member of Lyons Baptist Church.

Betty is survived by her son John and Tonia Gray of Lyons; daughters, Marjorie 
Sherman of Lyons, Rebecca and Michael Male of Saranac, Joan Shattuck of Ionia, 
Etta Waldron of Stanton; daughter-in-law Mary Gray of Ionia, brother Gene and 
Thelma George of Ohio; sister-in-law Josephine George of Ohio; twelve 
grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by 
her son Max Daniel; grandson Curtis; brothers Lawrence and Richard. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. at the Lyons Baptist Church 
with Pastor Gray Ackright officiating. Interment Balcom Cemetery. Visitation 
will be on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Lake 
Funeral Home in Muir. You may make memorial contributions in Betty’s name to 
Lyons Baptist Church.
