Green, 53, of Portland, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 19, 2005 surrounded by his loving family after a three year battle with cancer. He was born on February 29, 1952 in Lansing, the son of Jack and Joan (DuMond) Green. Dennis graduated from Portland High School and attended Lansing Community College to obtain his private pilots license. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in Germany and England until his honorable discharge on February 15, 1978. Dennis worked as a forklift operator at Meridian Automotive until leaving in 2002, due to his illness. Denny’s children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He enjoyed woodworking, camping with his family, and spending time in his garage. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan (DuMond) Green. Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Mary Green; father, Jack Green of Portland; three children, Shelly English of Portland, Hope (Michael) Verro of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Cody Green of Portland; sisters, Diane Ross and Delores (Bob) Schick; two grandchildren, Lauren and Deven Verro of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The memorial service was conducted by the Rev. Marilyn V. Danielson, pastor of the First Congregational Church, Portland on Nov. 26 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.
