Life’s Battle Ended

Another Good Man Gone to His Reward.

Amos Green is Called to the Other Shore – Died in Lowell.

Amos Green died Sunday morning, June 19th at the residence of his son Dr. M.C. 
Green, in Lowell, aged 78 years, 8 months and 26 days.  He was born in Macedon, 
Wayne county, N. Y., Sept. 23, 1825, and came to Michigan in the spring of 
1840, where he settled in Hillsdale county and followed the occupation of 
farming. 

He was united in marriage with Altana Strunk, Nov. 21st, 1850, and they lived 
and toiled together until her death, which occurred nine years ago.  In the 
year 1878 he moved from Hillsdale to Stanton and was engaged in the lumber 
business three years, then moved to Otisco near Cook’s Corners, where he 
resided until the death of his loved companion.

Mr. Green was a good citizen, an excellent neighbor and a kind friend to all, 
he enjoyed the companionship of his home and family and was a favorite with his 
old associates members of the Silver Gray Club.

The funeral service was held this afternoon at the home of his daughter Mrs. M. 
A. Chapman, Rev. J. E. Butler officiating, the pall bearers were Myron C. 
Green, Dr. M. Clayton Green of Lowell, Melvin A. Chapman and Charles 
McLaughlin, honorary bearers were O. A. Day, J. D. Morse, Albert Cusser, H. F. 
Hanks, B. F. Tower and W. H. Locke.  Interment in Otisco cemetery.  Four 
children survive him, Myron C. Green, Mrs. M. A. Chapman, Mrs. Chas. McLaughlin 
and Dr. M. C. Green.  He leaves a sister in California the last of a family of 
six.
